Homebound Ministry
Bringing Christ to Those Who Cannot Join Us at Mass
When illness, age, disability, or other circumstances prevent a parishioner from attending Mass, our Homebound Ministry brings the love and presence of Christ to them.
Our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion visit parishioners in their homes, nursing facilities, and assisted-living residences to bring them Holy Communion, pray with them, and help them remain connected to their parish family.
No one should have to feel separated from the Eucharistic life of our parish simply because they can no longer come to church.
BECOME A HOMEBOUND MINISTER
Serving the sick and homebound is a beautiful way to share the love of Christ with members of our parish who may feel isolated from the community.
Homebound Ministers are Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who have completed the required formation and have been mandated by the Diocese of Bridgeport and authorized to serve through the parish.
At St. Margaret Mary Parish, the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion ministry is led by Deacon Jeff Kingsley.

DIOCESAN REQUIREMENTS
The Diocese of Bridgeport establishes requirements and formation for those who serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
Candidates are expected to:
- Be practicing Catholics in good standing
- Have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist
- Live consistently with the teachings of the Catholic faith
- Have a good moral reputation
- Complete the formation required by the Diocese of Bridgeport
- Complete required Safe Environment and VIRTUS training
- Complete required background-check requirements, when applicable
- Receive the appropriate diocesan mandate and parish authorization before serving
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion do not appoint themselves to this ministry. The ministry involves discernment, formation, and authorization by the Church.
